About the Author

David Garkisch

David Garkisch is a Czech journalist, editor, and media professional with more than three decades of experience in journalism, publishing, and editorial leadership.

During his career, he has worked across major Czech news platforms and print media, contributing as a reporter, editor, and senior media figure. His professional life has been shaped by curiosity, discipline, storytelling, and a deep understanding of how people respond to change, pressure, ambition, crisis, and reinvention.

Outside the newsroom, David is an active sports enthusiast, recreational diver, long-distance walker, and outdoor adventurer. He has taken part regularly in the traditional Czech Prague–Prčice march, one of the country's most iconic walking events. His participation and hiking updates have been followed and published by news outlets over the years.

The Midlife Projects grows naturally from these interests: movement, endurance, learning, meaningful work, travel, resilience, and the belief that the second half of life can still be full of discovery.

This website is written for people who refuse to treat midlife as a slow retreat. It is for readers who want to get stronger, learn new skills, rethink old habits, travel with purpose, recover from setbacks, and build a more interesting second act.

Because age should never become an excuse to stop learning, exploring, or reinventing yourself.
